From September 2016, students and staff at Longbenton Community College will be moving into their new school. Alongside this, is a full re-brand, including a new logo, name and uniform. On the 10th of March, two young BBC reporters, Emma & Maya had a look into the move of their school and how these changes affect our students.
We interviewed Miss Callender on the new school logo. She told us that she is a really big fan of the new school logo, that it feels modern, and represents what the school really is, and she liked how it included the Melrose Centre as well. She remarked on how it represented that, although everyone at the school was unique and different, the logo shows that we are all together as one community. Mrs Callender also shared that she was excited for the new build, and how we would all be together in one building, no more cold walks from East to West and back again! She is also looking forward to much better heating, being closer together, and seeing more of the other staff. The only thing she will miss is her big classroom!
We also interviewed Christopher, a student in year 7, who said “I am looking forward to the new school. I hope it has smoother ground for my wheel chair. I also like the new logo because it’s colourful. The school is looking good!”
We interviewed a close friend of ours, Hannah- Jane, too, about her views. She said “I look forward to new facilities, like a gym. I love the new logo, because I also think it’s different and colourful. I’m not too sure what I want in the new school yet, but I’m excited nonetheless!”
