'Pupils study a wide and varied curriculum' OFSTED June 2022

KS3 Curriculum

In KS3 all students follow a varied curriculum including a focus on reading and oracy.  Students follow a three year KS3 curriculum with options in Year 9 enabling them to choose to study some subjects in greater depth.

In Year 9 students have an enrichment opportunity which sits alongside their academic curriculum.  This give students the chance to partipate in activities such as Sports Leaders, Arts Award, Debating, Coding and Enterprise challenges as part of their school week.

KS4 Curriculum

Students have a wide variety of options for study in Year 10 and 11 including both GCSE and vocational qualifications.  All students study Maths, English Language, English Literature and Science (every student has the opportunity to access separate Sciences).  In addition to this they choose three options from a range of almost twenty subjects.

Students in Year 10 and 11 also have Careers and Guidance lessons which are focused on giving them the opportunity to learn about careers, apprenticeships, local colleges and sixth form.  This ensures that they are equipped to make informed decisions about the best pathway for them Post 16.

KS5 Curriculum

Our shared NE12 sixth form enables us to offer a wide range of level 3 qualifications; including Medical Science and Politics which are offered in very few institutions locally.

In addition to the academic study students undertake in the sixth form we have an extensive enrichment programme which all students participate in.  Activities range from volunteering to supporting younger student to learning skills such as budgeting.
