About DofE at Longbenton High School

New Y10 DofE applications on hold due to Coronavirus

At Longbenton High School there are many staff and students from Year 10 to Year 13 who are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

Students can register for the Bronze award in the Spring Term of Year 10 and then progress onto the Silver in the Autumn of Year 11.

The Award programme has 4 sections - Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. Pupils do a minimum of 3 months activity (and hour a week) for each of the Volunteering, Physical and Skills sections for Bronze level, and between 6-12 months Volunteering, Physical or Skills

The Expedition section involves planning, training for and undertaking camping expeditions up to 3 days in length.

The Gold Award can be tackled in 6th form.

We keep costs very low and do not make profits so the cost of the award including expeditions is roughly £75 for Bronze and £125 for Silver including all of the expensive DofE welcome packs.

For more information about the award, have a look at the official website www.dofe.org and for uploading evidence it is www.edofe.org or you can use their new app.
