Dear Parents and Carers,
Information Evening for Prospective Students
We are hosting an information session on Wednesday January 15th at 6:00pm specifically for parents and carers considering Longbenton High School as an option for their child following the decision to close Monkseaton High School. This session will provide an overview of our school and the process for Year 10 starting in September 2025. At Longbenton High School, we currently have 24 places available in current Year 9, slightly higher than the figure published by the Local Authority in their December letter to you.

You will need to participate in the Council's additional admissions process for current Year 9 students at MHS. This process will allow you to rank your preferences for schools for your child to start Year 10 in September. Once the admissions round is complete, we will hold a welcome event in March specifically for the students offered a place here at Longbenton High School. We will also start to invite you to relevant Year 9 events; for example our GCSE Options Information Evening.
