It was round two for the Year 7 netball team last night. We had a few new additions to the team this week in Paige and Alana so everybody was excited to see  how the evening would unfold.

In our first game we came against some strong opposition in Marden and after a hard fought battle we succumbed to our first defeat and lost 3-0. We were a little bit disheartened but as we all know losing is the key to improving, so holding our heads high we looked forward to our local derby game against George Stephenson. After the familiarity of saying hello to the girls, some of whom were friends  from primary school, the game commenced and Longbenton took an early lead going into half time 4-0 up.   In true Longbenton spirit Isabella said that she would go and play for the opposition as they had lost a player to injury and in all fairness she was probably their player of the game.  The Longbenton girls relished this challenge of playing against their own but still managed to come out with an 11-0 victory.  Our final game was against John Spence (again) and following our draw the last time around the girls wanted to better this and indeed did so winning the game 2-0.

The girls played really well for each other and rotated their positions around to allow others to experience what it was like to be a shooter or a defender.   The opposition nominated a player of the game however in my opinion all of the Longbenton girls played really well for each other and the results could not have been achieved without their support of each other.
