It is with great regret that we are having to close face to face teaching to Year 9 on Thursday 31st March due to Covid/staff absence.
Please read the full letter that has been sent to parents below.
All other year groups (7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13) should come into school as normal. Year 9 can return on Friday 1st April as we have more staffing capacity on that day.
Dear Parents/Carers and Students,
School Closure to Year 9 - Thursday 31st March
We are unfortunately in a situation yet again this week where we cannot fully staff the school due to Covid and staff absence. We cannot get any supply staff in the school tomorrow.
I will have to ask students in 9 ONLY to work remotely from home on Thursday 31st March. This will just be for one day; we have the staffing and supply capacity to cover teaching on Friday.
I am sorry that we have had to ask this of Year 9 again; this is because of the high number of Year 9 classes which require cover tomorrow - they are predominantly Year 9.
Students will be set work on Google Classroom to complete by their subject teachers. I am afraid that yet again we cannot deliver live lessons throughout the day a) because staff are genuinely ill and b) remaining staff in school will be re-deployed to cover other lessons for colleagues.
I am sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to working families but hope you can understand the situation we are in. I am enormously grateful for your ongoing support. I am sure that you will share my frustrations, particularly given the government’s insistence that Covid disruption is “over”.
Yours faithfully,
Kelly Holbrook
