Covid Update 13th October 2020

Confirmed positive cases (confirmed Sunday 11th October)

Parents/carers should by now have received a letter confirming that we have had a positive Covid staff case and another positive Covid case in Year 13. This has only affected a small number of students and you will have been contacted directly by telephone already if this affects your child in terms of close contact and the need to self-isolate.

Attendance

Whilst overall student attendance remains high at 94%, we are beginning to deal with higher levels of staff absence due to track and trace protocols and the impact of increasing numbers of cases in our region. Therefore, please be patient with us if you are waiting for calls to be returned or help from support staff in school – we will do our best but many staff are covering for others at present and picking up additional workload in order to keep school open fully to all students.

6th form cases

We have several students in Years 12 and 13 who have had to self-isolate due to close contact with either our own positive case or confirmed cases at the GSHS site through our shared 6th form. Teachers will be in touch with students directly about any forthcoming mock assessments for year 13 and work for both year groups through Google Classroom. Please get in touch directly with teachers with any questions or concerns, including issues with technology and accessibility.
