On Tuesday 9th July Amy Barlow received the Longbenton Rotary Award for Service to the Community.  Amy has just completed her A levels and is about to go to University to study Adult Nursing. She  has contributed a massive amount to the school and local community, which has included fundraising for local charities and volunteering.  Amongst the charities she has raised money for are Northumbria Blood Bikes, Macmillan Nurses, the Alzheimer's Society and Team Kenya. She has also volunteered her help in the Good Neighbours project with VODA and St Oswald's Hospice, helping to deliver food, go shopping with the elderly and being a companion to them. She has also completed paired reading in school with younger pupils, assisted in summer projects at High Borrans and Segedenum and helped with renovation work at Meadowell Community Centre through NCS.  Amy thoroughly deserved this award that is given each year to a student in the school who has shown excellent service to his or her local community. Well done, Amy!"
