Dear Parent/Carer
We are approaching that special time of year when we look forward to the festivities and celebrations that are part of Christmas.
Within school we have a number of special events that I wanted to make you aware of:
Wednesday 13 December is our Christmas Carol Service at St Bartholomew’s Church, starting at 7pm. This really is the start of Christmas; a fantastic night, with so many of our pupils involved.
Thursday 14 December is the school Christmas Dinner. A full Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings, served by senior teachers, will be available. Other, less festive, options will be available too.
Friday 15 December is Christmas Jumper Day, for anyone who wants to supplement their school uniform towards a good cause. This is a fundraising event in support of Save the Children. We would ask for a donation of £1 for anyone who wants to add a jumper to their usual uniform to support this.
In addition, at lunchtime on 15 December, our Year 8 students are organising a Christmas Fayre for other students in aid of Team Kenya.
Saturday 16 December is our Melrose Christmas Concert in the Main Hall. A fantastic afternoon of music with Newcastle Concert Band, supporting some fantastic performances by our Melrose students.
Monday 18 December at 7pm is our Christmas Concert, held in the Main Hall. This will feature music from our choirs, orchestra and guitar legends.
Friday 22 December we break up for Christmas at 2.30pm, returning to school on Monday 8 January 2018.
It has been a fantastic first term of the academic year here at Longbenton High School. Our students have worked very hard and enjoyed success in so many ways. I do hope that you can join us for some, or all, of our celebration events.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful family time together.
Yours faithfully
Mr P Quinn
Headteacher
