Longbenton High School encourages our students to support charitable events within our community. As you may be aware students have been involved in an inter-form fundraising competition this term to raise money for Arina Primary school, our partner school in Kenya. I am really proud of how our students engaged with this and it resulted in the purchase of desks for the young people at Arina to work at instead of working on a mud floor as they do currently.
To reward our students for their effort this term we will be holding a non-school uniform day on Friday 14 July 2017.
We are asking that our students make a contribution of £1 which will be given to the charity Team Kenya. If you would like more information about the charity please visit www.teamkenya.org.uk. Their main focus is on educating girls, empowering woman and transforming communities.
Please do remember that it is still, in every other respect, a normal school day and that the learning that takes place is essential. Equally attendance on this day is vital.
