Testing using LFDs/Close contacts
All staff and students should test over the holidays in line with national guidance. This means that they should test if they will be in a high risk situation that day and before visiting people who are at higher risk of severe illness if they get Covid 19.
Please note the arrangements for contact tracing have not changed for schools and NHS Test and Trace will continue to contact any identified close contacts of positive cases.
All adults who are fully vaccinated and children aged 5 to 18 years and 6 months, identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19 – whether Omicron or not are now being strongly advised to take lateral flow device (LFD) tests every day for 7 days instead of self-isolating. Once notified by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact, all those who are eligible should take an LFD each day for 7 days and report the results as instructed and to their setting. If they test negative, they can continue to attend their education setting.
If they test positive, they should self-isolate and order a PCR test to confirm the result. If the PCR is positive, they must self-isolate for 10 days. If the PCR test is negative, they no longer need to self-isolate but should continue to carry out the remainder of the daily tests, and only need to isolate if it is positive.
Your child should have sufficient tests to use over the holiday period but we would also recommend that parents continue to try local pharmacies and the online government order form Order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) as we have been told that stocks will be available soon.
Visiting school
Please make an appointment. Parents cannot just arrive at reception and expect to see staff immediately. We strongly encourage parents and visitors to take a lateral flow test (LFD) before coming to school to protect our staff.
