Teacher of Design and Technology

Main Scale, Full Time Permanent

Required for September 2017

Longbenton is a high performing, successful 11-18 school and we are looking to appoint a Teacher of Design and Technology from September 2017.  These are very exciting times for us and this is a wonderful opportunity for someone to join us at a key point in our development and be part of something innovative, challenging and rewarding.  The school is inclusive, comprehensive in its intake and a focal point of the local community.

We want to appoint a Design and Technology teacher from 1 September 2017, to join our vibrant, stable and successful team. We are looking for someone with the potential to successfully teach Design and Technology to at least GCSE standard but who can also teach Food Studies to at least KS3 classes.  If successful, you will be joining a committed team of professionals who are raising standards and determined to develop the teaching of technology and improve learning outcomes for all learners. This is an important appointment for our school, the main responsibilities for which are set out in the applicant’s pack which you will find on our school website, www.longbenton.org.uk.

Create is an important department in the school and we are a great place to join to develop your career further in our brand new facilities.  The successful candidate will have use of the suite of specialist teaching spaces in our new school. Above all, we are looking for someone who is, or has the potential to be, an excellent teacher.  In return you will work in a very supportive environment with students who want to learn and a staff who are keen to collaborate and develop their practice.

The Create Department at Longbenton contains a wealth of experience and expertise in a number of different areas, and would be a great place to develop your pedagogy. It encompasses courses within Design and Technology, Food Studies, Child Studies, Textiles, Art and Photography.  Ideally we are looking for someone who can contribute to a number of these subject areas, at least with KS3 classes.  Longbenton offers the successful candidate a whole-hearted commitment to professional learning that places individual development at the heart of its ethos.

Making the decision whether to apply for a new post is always challenging on a number of levels but hopefully the information pack provides you with all of the information that supports you in choosing to proceed and make an application.  You will be able to see more of us as a school through our website, www.longbenton.org.uk, but if there is additional information that you need in making your application please feel free to get in touch.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Thursday 30 March with interviews soon after.
